CARLINGFORD SKATE PARK AND YOUTH SPACE

NSW, AUSTRALIA

Given an extremely steep site, Convic helped the City of Parramatta technically refine their Master Plan to fit the various active and passive programming into the difficult site, including a playground, exercise equipment, stage and amphitheatre, dog park, swales, skate park and a full-size multipurpose court.

The topography for the site has influenced the ‘layering’ thematic colour response to the steep terrain as the facility steps its way down the site and reveals and conceals active recreation in earthy tones that are ‘cut out’ of the hill side.  A full size multi court sits above the skate park with basketball, netball, futsal, four square and a hit up wall for various types of youth activation.

Generous terracing forms plentiful spectator viewing areas into the skate park. The skate park has a unique intermediate bowl, beginner mini ramp and a contemporary street plaza including combination manual pad, hip to jersey barrier, slappy kerbs and tiered ledges; all of which cut into the hill side theming.
