APPIN SKATE PARK

NSW, AUSTRALIA

The Appin District Skate Facility has been designed to complement its shady, treed environment, retaining, and accentuating as many trees as possible to maximise shade and the natural landscape character setting.

Site constraints resulted in a small footprint to work within and a key objective was to deliver a space that enabled maximised user typologies and skill levels using the facility safely at any given time. This has been achieved by a considered layout of street and transition areas and plenty of waiting zones for multiple users within the park.

A standout feature within the space is the Koala sculpture that stands as a skateable feature next to the bowl.  This sculpture pays homage to the Appin region being renowned for its koala numbers and is much loved by the local community.
