LISMORE URBAN SKATE PRECINCT
Known locally as the ‘big scrub’, remnant bush in the region still exists from when the super continent divided and separated into the continents that exist today. The Urban Sports Precinct forms islands of passive and active recreation that float within a sea of remnant bush and landscape treatments.
Each floating island comprises a different skate typology that caters to different skate disciplines and skill levels. Doing this allows for a greater overall capacity and minimises any potential collisions between riders of different skill levels competing for the same space. The first area is dedicated street plaza style for beginner – intermediate riders. The second is a broader, more traditional flowy street area with larger obstacles and generous spacing allowing intermediate – advanced riders to generate more speed. The third area is a ‘pool style’ bowl for intermediate and advanced riders to hone their transition skills and the forth area is a beginner focused area for new riders to learn the basics of transition skating in a safer environment.
