The AILA Landscape Architecture Awards program The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) Awards showcases the positive impact landscape architecture has on Australian lives through the built and natural environments.

The Jury said “The Urban Design category is represented by a diverse mix of both built and strategic work, but at its essence, it represents projects that demonstrate how landscape architects contribute to the improvement of urban settings, the ability of landscape to bring people together in our cities.

This project is to be commended for its transformation of an underutilised and fenced off urban setting into a unique urban place that acts as both plaza and skateable landscape. The use of recycled materials that ‘ground’ the project in its setting is to be applauded. The jury particularly enjoyed the recreation of iconic 90s Sydney skate “moments”, where skaters have been ‘moved on’ and hope this space becomes an iconic place for skaters and community alike.”
