Landscape Architecture Award for Urban Design
South Eveleigh Youth Space
The AILA Landscape Architecture Awards program The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) Awards showcases the positive impact landscape architecture has on Australian lives through the built and natural environments.
The South Eveleigh Youth Space has been recognised for the highly acclaimed Landscape Architecture Award for Urban Design in NSW.
A juror said “Located on land belonging to the former Eveleigh Railway Workshops, The South Eveleigh Youth Space represents a neat, innovative and original design solution for a small and constrained site. Based on community need and consultation the design acknowledges the site heritage and celebrates this by integrating materials and details of this era into the skate park design at different scales. Even the site’s small footprint has been cleverly addressed in the spatial arrangement of the elements, some of which are non-standard for a skatepark and have been expertly detailed, to allow a flow of movement around the space. South Eveleigh Youth Space is a unique, exciting and meaningful addition to Sydney’s inner suburbs.”
