AGNES WATER SKATEPARK

QLD, AUSTRALIA

The Gladstone Regional Council engaged Convic to undertake the concept design for the redevelopment of the Agnes Water Skatepark located within the Captain Cook Lions Park. This public reserve precinct will have a focus on non traditional sports and will be tailored to meet the current community demand within Agnes Water to increase the provision of activities for young people interested in alternative active recreation.

The aesthetic of the skatepark aims to reflect the long rays of light reflecting off the water at sunset. This is done through long bands of yellow, orange and red coloured concrete raiding across the facility.

The design includes an intermediate skill level pool style enclosed bowl and a street skate area that utilises the raised bowl platform as a starting point. The street area utilised obstacles that provide flow as well as traditional style obstacles for a variety of skill levels.
