An Integrated Space for Strathalbyn, SA
Strathalbyn, South Australia was the location of the third Convic designed and built skate park to open during National Youth Week on April 13, 2014 and it was standing room only as the crowds gathered.
The skate park accommodates for all user skill levels – from beginner through to advanced. This allows for the integration of different aged users and promotes the progression of skill level for the local youth within the community. This in return elevates the skate park to become a more holistic community space.
The space has been designed as an integrated dynamic landscape, tying in with the existing constructed wetland while improving the connectivity between the community and the ecologically important site that creates habitats for native flora and fauna. The cohesive design for the area creates a large and intimate grassed open space to be used during community events.
