PRAHRAN SKATE PARK
The Prahran Skate Park and Basketball Court provides an activated central community hub that offers recreational and social experiences for all members of the community within a dynamic urban setting. The space creates a state of the art inner city skate plaza that pays homage to the much-loved heritage of the Prahran Skate Park. A vibrant urban sanctuary for the youth, reflected through materiality and cultural interpretation.
The design and high quality built outcome of the skate plaza evolves from the traditional idea of a skate park and forms a fresh new facility with clean dynamic lines. It is safe and open for all to see in and out of and take in the action or hang out and relax within the bustling Prahran urban realm.
A key objective for the facility was to replicate a number of the much-loved features within the old park with new and reinterpreted obstacles to create a more contemporary facility. This included the inclusion of a flat bank hip, hand rail out ledge and long ledge delivered to similar or same dimensions.
