DECEPTION BAY SKATE PARK
As part of the Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Skate Park and BMX Facilities Strategy, an upgrade to the existing Deception Bay Skate Park was undertaken to provide the community and end users with a contemporary recreation space that meets the current and future youth demands.
The design ideation for the facility is derived from the Deception Bay Sea Baths which are heritage-listed swimming pools on Captain Cook parade. Drawing inspiration from the vegetation, patterns and colours found within the facility’s contextual landscape setting, the design explored the unique shapes and patterns formed within the sea baths. These patterns have been reinterpreted into coloured concrete patterns.
Combining this with a high quality delivered outcome results in an iconic youth space that provides a unique riding experience for the regional community.
